Duhallow Cycle Tour 2012Duhallow Cycle Tour 2012 - Book Online
The Duhallow Cycle Tour is being run by Kanturk Cycling Club in aid of Focus Ireland. Focus Ireland was founded in 1985 and the charity works to prevent young people, adults and families from becoming, remaining or returning to homelessness through the provision of quality services, supported housing research and advocacy. Sign-on will be in Mallow GAA Complex (Directions) from 7.30am on Saturday June 2nd
Routes The Mass Rock Tour – 145km – Min age is 16 on June 2nd - Start Time 9am A testing route for the experienced cyclist. Sign on at Mallow GAA Complex from 7.30am.
The Longueville Classic – 75km – Min Age is 16 on June 2nd - Start Time 10am Perfect spin if your getting ready for the Ring of Kerry. Sign on from 7.30am.
Registration/Sign-On & Fees
Participants are recommended to register online before May 30th. A limited number of spaces will be available after this date but will incur an extra charge. Please see below entry fees:
Each participant must then sign-on on the weekend of the event at which point each cyclist will receive their event number and goody bag. Sign-on will be in Mallow GAA Complex from 7.30am on Saturday June 2nd. Event numbers must be worn at all times throughout the tour.
Parental permission must be given for anybody under 18 to participate in the event and they must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
All participants will be entered into a raffle which will take place on the day, with numerous prizes to be won, entries before may 30th will a enter a draw for 2 tickets for an event at Olympic park at the London Olympics.
Facilities Event HQ for the day is Mallow GAA Complex. Free parking will be provided on the day. Please adhere to instructions from parking marshals. Toilets and shower facilities will also be available at Mallow GAA on the day of the event. Mallow GAA restaurant will be open for breakfast before the event.
Food & Water Stops
First Aid First-Aid will be provided on the day. There will also be service vehicles (mechanical difficulties) in place for each of the routes. Due to the vast nature of the course it is difficult for the organisers to guarantee transport back to Mallow GAA Complex for every rider who gets into trouble. However if you do get into difficulty please inform event personnel immediately (all riders will be issued with a contact number and we will endeavor to remedy each individual situation.
Accommodation For those of you who will be travelling to Cork for the event there are a number of hotels that have kindly offered a discounted rate for participants. IMPORTANT ALL PARTICIPANTS MUST READ AND COMPLY WITH THE FOLLOWING TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF ENTRY OUTLINED BELOW Terms and Conditions of Entry All Participants must wear a hard shell helmet. Anyone without a helmet will not be able to participate. No HELMET NO SPIN. All participants are responsible for their own safety and all entrants participate at their own risk. All participants must obey the rules of the road at all times and be aware of other road users. This event will be run on open roads. Participants must obey the instructions of the Gardaí, the Irish Red Cross and event marshals at all times. If you have not participated in physical activity for some time please consult your GP before embarking on training/participating for this event. In the event of a participant not reaching a certain marker within adequate time, the organisers reserve the right to move participants to an alternate event route. This measure is being taken due to health and safety concerns and out of consideration for event volunteers. All bicycles should be in a well-maintained and road-worthy condition. Participants are advised to carry a pump, spare tubes etc. No ear phones to be worn by cyclists. Refreshments will be provided en-route and at the finish area. Participants must follow the road signage for their chosen event and wear or have visible their event number at all times. In the event of inclement weather conditions the organisers have the right to alter the route on the day of the event. Participants should allow plenty of time to sign in prior to the event. Participants are asked not to litter and to keep Cork County clean. Parking will be available for all participants at Mallow GAA Sports Complex
DECLARATION OF ENTRY • I hereby agree to follow the instructions of the organising committee and marshals. • I understand that I am bound by the rules of the road. • I will take all reasonable steps to mitigate risks to my own safety, including the wearing of a cycle helmet, and the safety of others participating in and assisting with the event. • I understand that as part of the Duhallow Cycle Tour photographs/video will be taken which may be used for future promotional purposes. • I understand that I am participating in this event at my own risk and will not hold the Duhallow Cycle Tour Committee or any of its constituent members, collectively or individually responsible for any accident or incident in which I am involved, in connection with Duhallow Cycle Tour.
